PROOF WORKS
Advanced Prototyping & Commercialization Hub
Proof Works is a new advanced prototyping and commercialization hub designed to support hard-tech startups and emerging technology companies in Louisiana’s Capital Region.
Located at the former Tin Roof Brewery site along the Nicholson Drive corridor, Proof Works will transform an underutilized industrial property into a modern innovation facility focused on carbon management, industrial decarbonization, and advanced industrial process technologies.
The facility will feature flexible workspace, prototyping labs, and programmatic support tailored to the needs of high-growth technology companies. By providing the infrastructure required to move from research and development into production and market deployment, Proof Works addresses the critical gap between early-stage innovation and scalable commercialization.
Developed through a collaboration between the Greater Baton Rouge Economic Partnership, Future Use of Energy in Louisiana (FUEL), Louisiana Economic Development (LED), and the Baton Rouge Area Foundation (BRAF), Proof Works is positioned to serve as the physical commercialization home for companies advancing next-generation energy and industrial technologies.
Strategically located between LSU and Downtown Baton Rouge, Proof Works strengthens the innovation corridor along Nicholson Drive and aligns with the long-term vision for regional growth and connectivity.
Proof Works Partners
“Proof Works represents a deliberate step forward in diversifying the Capital Region’s economy,” said Lori Melancon, President & CEO, Greater Baton Rouge Economic Partnership. “For generations, our industrial base has powered opportunity here, and now we are building the infrastructure that ensures the next wave of innovation is created and scaled in our backyard. By supporting entrepreneurs in hard-tech and advanced prototyping, we are expanding what is possible in the 225, retaining top talent, and creating new pathways for high-wage, high-impact careers. This is about strengthening our economic foundation while empowering founders to build the future of industry right here at home.”
“Proof Works addresses the critical gap that exists between early-stage research and early prototype testing for carbon utilization technologies,” said Mike Mazzola, Executive Director, FUEL. “By establishing this infrastructure through a direct partnership with the state, we are creating a clear pathway for Louisiana companies to transition their innovations from the laboratory to the marketplace. This collaboration is essential for de-risking new technologies and ensuring that the growth of carbon management technology will be rooted in our state. We are proud to work alongside our state and regional partners to future-proof our economy and maintain our competitive edge in the global energy evolution.”
“Proof Works will serve as a critical anchor for our most promising innovators, providing them with the resources and infrastructure necessary to scale their ventures right here in Louisiana,” said Chris Meyer, President & CEO, Baton Rouge Area Foundation. “Through this strategic partnership with the state and our regional partners, we are making a long-term investment in our local talent and ensuring that the next generation of industrial breakthroughs remains rooted in our own community, so they too can give back and be part of a virtuous cycle of expanding opportunity. We are proud to collaborate with the state to unlock this potential and build a more resilient and vibrant future for all our citizens.”
“Louisiana is winning the race for the future of energy because we are investing in the physical assets that founders need,” said Josh Fleig, Chief Innovation Officer, Louisiana Economic Development. “Proof Works provides the labs, the tools, and the proximity to LSU that will turn the Capital Region into a magnet for hard-tech investment. We are building a permanent home for the next generation of Louisiana’s industrial titans.”
“This is an exciting chapter for entrepreneurship in the Baton Rouge area and Louisiana,” said Paul Barrial, Founding Director, Proof Works. “Our growing ecosystem will benefit not just from this new physical space, but also the cross collaboration that it will enable. We look forward to welcoming founders to Proof Works soon.”
“This project is a powerful example of adaptive reuse done right,” said State Rep. Terry Landry Jr. (District 67). “We are taking a former industrial facility and reimagining it as a launchpad for Louisiana entrepreneurs — especially those building solutions in energy, materials, and hard technologies. The revitalization of the Nicholson corridor is critical to our district’s future, and this investment will attract talent, activate surrounding properties, and strengthen the innovation ecosystem linking our universities and the private sector.”
“This investment represents exactly the kind of forward-looking economic development Louisiana needs,” said State Sen. Larry Selders (District 14). “By creating new opportunities for Louisiana-based founders in the energy and advanced manufacturing sectors, we are ensuring that the next generation of companies can start, scale, and stay right here at home.”
