Hood Container Corporation manufactures containerboard, kraft paper, and corrugated packaging products. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, Hood Container is part of Hood Companies Inc., a privately held group specializing in forest products, building materials, and packaging across North America.
When Hood Container of Louisiana pursued an expansion with a new paper manufacturing and recycling upgrade, the company looked at the Baton Rouge area for its skilled workforce, robust infrastructure, and strong business climate. Hood Container selected St. Francisville, LA for its initial $50 million facility investment in 2016. This new investment retained 237 jobs, created 10 new direct jobs, and supported expanded containerboard production and the addition of a new recycling plant to reuse old, corrugated containers, enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability.
Since then, Hood Container has continued to invest significantly in its St. Francisville operations, announcing an additional $50 million mill expansion in 2020 to upgrade equipment, increase production capacity, and improve paper quality. Today, Hood Container supports over 300 direct jobs and a $23 million annual payroll at the St. Francisville mill, making it one of the Capital Region’s key economic drivers.
