BATON ROUGE, LA – The Greater Baton Rouge Economic Partnership has earned national recognition as one of the country’s top-performing regional economic development organizations, receiving Site Selection Magazine’s Mac Conway Award for Excellence in Economic Development.
Presented annually by Site Selection Magazine, the Mac Conway Awards recognize regional economic development organizations that demonstrate exceptional performance in business investment, job creation, economic growth, and talent attraction.
In 2025, The Partnership supported 12 major project wins totaling more than $10.6 billion in announced capital investment and more than 2,100 new direct jobs. Major project announcements included Hyundai Steel’s $5.8 billion investment in Ascension Parish, CF Industries’ low-carbon ammonia project, Hood Container’s modernization project in West Feliciana Parish, and a growing pipeline of advanced manufacturing, technology, and logistics investments across the region.
“Companies today have more options than ever before when deciding where to invest, expand, and create jobs,” said Jayson Newell, Acting Co-CEO of the Greater Baton Rouge Economic Partnership. “Louisiana’s Capital Region continues to compete successfully because of the strength of our sites, infrastructure, workforce, and business climate. Equally important is the collaboration among state, regional, and local partners that helps position projects for success. This award reflects the momentum we have built together, and the confidence companies continue to place in our region.”
The recognition validates that the collective efforts of partners across Louisiana’s Capital Region are enabling the region to compete nationally for major industrial, manufacturing, energy, and logistics investments.
“This recognition belongs to the many partners who help drive economic growth across Louisiana’s Capital Region every day,” said Klein Kirby, Board Chair of the Greater Baton Rouge Economic Partnership. “From state leaders and local economic development organizations to investors, employers, and workforce partners in each of our nine parishes, this award reflects what is possible when the Capital Region works together around a shared vision for growth and opportunity.”
“This award is another sign that Louisiana is competing and winning at the highest level,” said LED Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois. “Our momentum is built on strong partnerships across every level of economic development, and the Greater Baton Rouge Economic Partnership has played an important role in that success. Congratulations to The Partnership team on this well-deserved national recognition and for helping position both the Capital Region and Louisiana for continued growth.”
The Mac Conway Award is determined by a composite index balanced across three nationally recognized data sources: project activity and capital investment tracked through the Conway Projects Database; regional economic performance as measured by the Milken Institute’s 2026 Best Performing Cities Index; and, for the first time this year, metro-area talent competitiveness from the Lightcast Talent Attraction Scorecard 2025. Recipients are selected from among economic development organizations across the country.
