BATON ROUGE, La. (August 26, 2025) — The Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) today announced new leadership for its Business Investment division, the team tasked with attracting new businesses, supporting existing companies, and diversifying the regional economy. The structure of the team reflects the organization’s focus on key economic driver industry sectors to accelerate growth in Louisiana’s nine-parish Capital Region.
“The economic landscape is always evolving, and our Business Investment team structure is a direct response to the opportunities we see on the horizon,” said Lori Melancon, BRAC president & CEO. “This team is aligned to be proactive—not just with recruiting new companies to our ecosystem, but also to ensure our existing businesses have the support they need to grow and thrive.”
BRAC’s Business Investment team:
- Jayson Newell, Senior Vice President of Business Investment: A seven-year BRAC veteran, Jayson was promoted to lead the Business Investment division, succeeding Russell Richardson. In this role, he will spearhead strategic initiatives to identify and attract high-potential economic development prospects and strengthen business retention and expansion efforts for existing companies. Prior to joining BRAC in 2018, Jayson was a project manager at Louisiana Economic Development (LED). He holds a Bachelors of Science as well as a Masters in Economic Development from the University of Southern Mississippi.
- Robby Abboud, Vice President of Business Investment, Process Industries: A new addition to the BRAC team, Robby spent five years with LED where he served as Director of Business Development. While his primary focus at BRAC will be to lead strategies for investment and job creation within Process Industries, his expertise spans multiple sectors, enabling him to provide strategic support across all BRAC’s business investment efforts. Robby has a Masters in Public Administration from LSU.
- Anthony Bodin, Vice President of Business Investment, Technology: Anthony leads the development and execution of strategies to drive investment and job creation for technology-based teams and companies. He focuses on key sectors including cybersecurity, software development, industrial & ag tech, and healthcare & life sciences. Anthony brings a wealth of economic development experience to the role, having led efforts at both LED and GNO Inc. in his career. At GNO Inc., Anthony was instrumental in developing the organization’s collaborative bid to land the H2theFuture BBBRC grant. Anthony holds an MBA from Tulane University’s Freeman School of Business.
- Janet Galati, Vice President of Business Investment, Energy: Janet leads the development and execution of strategies to drive investment and job creation in the Energy industry. Her primary focus is on recruiting new companies to Louisiana while also building a robust energy business ecosystem by leveraging the state’s industry strengths and infrastructure to attract further investment. Janet’s business investment experience is extensive, having spent seven years with the Jefferson Parish Economic Development Corporation (JEDCO) and nearly four years with the Montgomery County, Pennsylvania Commerce Department. Janet has both a Bachelors and Masters of Public Administration from the University of South Florida.
- Adelina Lepine, Director of Compliance and Operations: Adelina manages the Business Investment team’s day-to-day operations and ensures adherence to legal and regulatory standards. Her primary focus is on overseeing the compliance and reporting for critical state and federal grant programs, including H2theFuture and the Economic Development Site Readiness Program (EDRED). She also plays a key role in supporting BRAC’s certified sites work, managing the vital documentation that streamlines project readiness. Adelina has been with BRAC for more than six years, and holds a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
“I’m honored to take on this leadership role and hit the ground running with such a talented team,” said Jayson Newell, Senior Vice President of Business Investment. “The new structure isn’t a reorganization; it’s a strategic move that allows us to be more nimble and targeted in our efforts.”
