The Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) applauds Governor Landry for his strong commitment to the construction of a new Mississippi River Bridge in the Capital Region. During his testimony yesterday before the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Governor Landry emphasized the bridge’s critical importance to the Capital Region’s future and the nation’s economic growth.
Addressing Louisiana’s role as a hub for commerce, Governor Landry highlighted the severe traffic challenges in Baton Rouge, stating, “We need a new bridge in Baton Rouge. Baton Rouge has the fourth highest traffic congestion in the nation, and if you are traveling from Houston to New Orleans, and you get to Baton Rouge, you will see what I am saying.”
Governor Landry’s push for this transformative project demonstrates commitment to improving infrastructure for residents and businesses in the Capital Region. “We could use some help – to help move those goods back and forth that actually service your districts and help you grow your economy,” the Governor continued.
“We deeply appreciate Governor Landry’s advocacy for critical infrastructure projects in the Capital Region and look forward to his partnership in driving our economy forward,” said Lori Melancon, president and CEO of BRAC.
